Last year, a solar tunnel was unveiled in the U.K. This is a 2.2 mile tunnel for trains that was covered in solar panels. Enough panels to power 1,000 homes per year and reduce the CO2 emissions by 2,400 tons per year. Imagine if we developed a series of similar renewable green energy sources and began to move our country away from dependence on finite natural resources. I know it would hurt the oil companies...poor oil tycoons. But it would be an amazing transition for our country. We are one of the most developed countries in the world...we should be leading the way in green energy. But that's what you get when your politicians (I'm looking at you Mitt) are in the pockets of big business. Screw the future, screw our children, screw the environment...they need that dollar.

Making a Real Dedication to Renewable Energy
People call liberals "tree huggers" and other derogatory names because we like to favor the elimination of waste and pollution. Personally I don't think this makes any sense. The fact is that there is a toll that is taken on the environment when we burn fuel, dig up minerals, and pump oil out of the ground. Not only does it effect the environment through waste, but there is only a finite amount of these resources available. I don't care if we have 50 years worth or 100 years worth...they will eventually run out. We should be investing in clean, and completely renewable resources. By investing, I don't mean the small investments we are making. There needs to be serious dedication to a change in our energy (sorry Sam...I know much of the family makes a living in coal...but this is what I believe).
